How do I start tracking my hike?

To start tracking, install WalkTracker from the Google Play Store, open the app, and grant the required permissions. Go to the Track view and press the Play button to begin recording your hike. When finished, press Stop. You can review your activity in the Trips / Follow view.

How do I follow a pre-recorded or imported track?

Open the Trips / Follow view, select your saved hike, and press Play to start navigation. Follow the on-screen guidance to stay on route.

How do I import a GPX track?

You can import a GPX file in two ways: - Open your Android File Manager, select the GPX file, and choose Open with → WalkTracker - Or tap the GPX import icon in the app

After importing, your track will appear in the Trips / Follow view.

How do I switch from Online maps to Offline maps?

Easiest is to click the top-banner in the Track-view (Interested in OFFLINE maps? Click here to enable...) or find in Settings the option: Offline maps->Use Offline maps. Now let the app help you to find the map of your area and download it or browse for a map via: Settings -> Offline maps -> Manage offline map(s). Afterwards you need to restart WalkTracker to effectuate changes.

How do I view my streaks and statistics?

Open the Charts view to see: - Current and longest streak - Total trips and distance - Best week (most kilometers) - Achieved badges

These statistics are for motivation only and are not stored on external servers.

How do I share a hike (map, image, or GPX)?

Click the Trips/Follow-tab, find your hike. On top you find the typical share-icon. Click it and select the way you would like to share: As Picture, here you select a picture of your hike, the app will add statistics of the hike and an outline of the route. Second option is as Map, here you will share the track as a complete map with statistics. The last option is as GPX-file.

How do I view elevation and speed graphs?

When you opened the hike, on the left bottom you see a arrow pointing upwards: click it. Or you can select the Graph-button on top, here you will also see the Speed. A small note: elevation profile is only available some time after completing the hike because data is retrieved from a webservice (need WLAN connection).

How can I create and share a 3D replay video of my hike?

For this, click the Trips/Follow-tab, find your hike and click the drone-button on top of the screen. Note: this functionality only works ONLINE. When the track is replayed, you have the possibility to share it as MP4 file.

I recorded a hike, but forgot to stop tracking, now I'm in the car and my track is extended by the car drive. How do I remove unwanted parts of a hike?

Go to your hike, click on top of the screen the pencil-button, select Cut Segment, find the point at your track to cut from and select: 'Cut from Start to here' or 'Cut from here to end'.

It is nice that the tracks get the name of the location, but I would like to define own names for my tracks. How to rename a hike?

There are two places you can do this, from the view where you see the track, click the pencil-button on top of the screen and select: 'Rename' or from the Trips/Follow-view, long press one Trip. Now on top you see a pencil-button, click it and rename the trip. Regret of the new name, you can here also reset to the default name (name of the location).

Accidently I stopped tracking and started a new hike. I would like to see this as one hike. How do I merge two (or more) hikes?

Go to the Trips/Follow-view, long press a hike, select the other hike and press the plus(+)-button on top of the screen to merge these trips.

I would like to clean up existing hikes. How do I delete a hike?

Go to the Trips/Follow-view, long press a hike. Now you have the possibility to select other hikes if you want. Press the trash(bin) button on top of the screen.

In the view with the track, I see too many statistics. How do I hide or show statistics in the track view?

You can click on the label of the statistic: i.e. DISTANCE or SPEED, this will hide this statistic. When you remove the last one, ALL are visible again.

In the view with the track, I see SPEED (km/h miles/h) but I would like to see a PACE (min/km min/mile). How do I switch between speed and pace?

You can click on the VALUE, this will toggle SPEED -> PACE -> SPEED.

I would like to customize the app. How do I change app settings?

Please check the Settings (three dots in right upper corner). You can customize many aspects of WalkTracker. Maybe also remember/write down the original setting to retain the previous/default experience.
