Camino Brabant - is a pilgrimage route of nearly 300 kilometres, which can be completed on foot or by bicycle, through the beautiful Brabant countryside, passing through Den Bosch, Eindhoven, Tilburg and Breda.
Camino Brabant is inspired by the concept of the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela. The route is signposted and comes with an official pilgrim passport in which you can collect stamps at the 60 different small chapels dedicated to the Virgin Mary along the way.
Upon completing the route, you can apply for a certificate of completion.
History
Camino Brabant is an initiative founded by Jan Groenen. After spending an entire year training hard in 2019–2020 to walk the Northern Route of the Camino de Santiago, the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, and Spain went into lockdown.
As a wonderful alternative, Jan has had the opportunity to walk many beautiful kilometres in North Brabant (The Netherlands). Over time, he has come to appreciate the Brabant countryside more and more. Jan also found the Catholic character of a pilgrimage route particularly special.
This prompted him to decide, together with people from his local walking group, to establish the foundation: 'Stichting Camino Brabant'.
The foundation has developed a pilgrimage route through the Brabant countryside, inspired by the values of the traditional pilgrimage route to Santiago.
